    Yay for babies!

So, I hardly ever post on here anymore, but I just wanted to post a quick little blurb about my  new little guy!  James Thomas was born on June 5th via repeat c section at 9:24am.  He weighed 10 lbs 12 oz and was 23 inches long!  Yes a big boy indeed.  Pretty happy now about the whole c section thing. Wink

We're doing pretty well and I'm home now until August 4th.  I really thought I would totally be lost and just like a first time mom again having a boy and all, but really it's kinda like riding a bike.  Except your first bike had a banana seat and a basket on the handle bars and now it's a ten speed.  Make sence?  Maybe I'll get back into this blog, but I've mostly been blogging on myspace these days.  Hope everyone is doing well!  Here's a pic of him and one of him with his sister.

    It's a...boy?

Really?  Could have fooled me!  But now that I know, yes, things are starting to feel different.  This one moves a lot more during the day which is good because maybe that means he's sleeping at night.  Yeah, right Wink

So that's all.  Been busy with this work thing and such.  Sleeping and eating now like a fiend.  Starting to wish I was already done, but still a ways to go!  ACK

Is it really gonna be like this again?

Since the birth of my darling daughter some 3.5 years ago I have been dreading the thought of becoming pregnant again.  Let's just say it was an unpleasant experience all around.  Well, of course except the concieving part, but I'll not gross you out any further.  He he he.  Anywho, this current pregnancy, which I am now in the 2nd trimester of, is turning out to be as bad, if not worse, than the first.  The morning sickness is almost unbearable.  When I was pregnant with Maggie I was lucky enough to not have to work, so I was able to mope around the house all day feeling sorry for myself and eating only vanilla ice cream and throwing up like clock-work.  This time, however, I am working and my job requires me to actually use my brain which while pg functions only on half-speed.  Unfortunate but not the worst part.  So right around 11 wks things went from bad to worse.  I got so sick that I was to the point of not holding down small sips of water.  For those of you who haven't experience this, this is the point where they make you go to the hospital for some real fun.  Normally (not dehydrated that is) my veins suck beyond compare.  The people in the lab at my clinic seriously run when they see me coming.  Long story short, it was a hellish evening.  The one good thing that came out of it though was the fact that they gave me some lovely drugs to keep my stomach from spazzing out too much.  Another downside is my job.  I'm sure most of you that work in an office setting know exactly what I'm talking about.  The women who sit around me are OBSESSED with free food.  That and just food in general.  Most of them are making their lunch at 10 or 10:30, a time at which I am not yet ready to smell the wonderful aroma of lean cusine and the budget gormet.  Then, around 12:30, when I'm actually ready to eat lunch, they make popcorn.  I HATE that smell even not pg!!  Ugh, it sucks.  So enough feeling sorry for myself, have a great weekend everyone!

Has it almost been a year?

Ok, so I couldn't let a whole year go by with out posting again.  So yes, I am alive!  Things have been crazy this last year and will only get crazier, but I'm taking some time for myself now.  I won't bore you with the mundane details, but here's a quick run down...
    1. Got a new WAY better job
    2. Tried to get pregnant and had some issues
    3. Am 13 weeks preg right now and sick as a dog, but totally excited!

So that's my year in very short, doesn't even qualify for Cliffs Notes, form.  More to come later, ta ta for now!

    Happy New Year!

Thank the good Lord our New Year's party went much better than Christmas.  We had a couple of friends over and served up some totally 70's appetizers complete with the cheapest bottle of champagne we could find.  Super fly.  Anyhoo, not much has been going on latley.  I feel pretty lame writting this blog entry to tell the truth.  Work has been pretty much exhausting all of my abilities lately, creative and otherwise, so I've pretty much just been a lump.  It seems like we will never see the end of the tunnel with the stupid new computer system.  It is making everyone crazy and completley bitchy.  I think there will be a lot of drinks consumed at our holiday party in two weeks.  I'm kind of looking forward to that.  Last year so many people were preggo that it wasn't the same with out them drinking.  Still fun, just not the same.  Ok, not this is just getting pathetic.  Have a great weekend everyone!

    Most precious...

Here's a picture my father-in-law emailed me from Christmas Eve.  Notice how she's not actually smiling FOR the camera...

I was trying my darndest though to get her to at least LOOK at the camera, but my efforts were totally wasted as you can tell.  I should put the rest of the pictures up here to prove it.  I bet if someone had been taking pictures of me trying to get her to look, that would have been entertaining!

    christmas from hell

Well, our Christmas weekend of fun all started on Friday afternoon while Mark and I were out to lunch.  I felt pretty crappy all morning and I knew I was going to get a migrain, but I figured I would just go eat something, take lots of asprin and hopefully I would make it through the day.  Ha.  While Mark and I are eating, I started to see stars, and while they were really pretty, I started to freak out a bit.  Then things went black for a minute and then I threw up.  So we were off to urgent care ( I had to talk Mark out of the hospital).  Luckily my super awesome co-worker worked it out with her mom so she could stay and close for me.  Love you Mel!  Anyhoo, they got be back fairly quickly and I was given an injection of Imitrex.  When that didn't work as well as they wanted they gave me something else that made me loopy.  I was left alone with my cell phone and made a few interesting calls.  But that my friends is a story for another day.  Saturday was pretty good, finished up shopping and started to get ready for Christmas eve.  Christmas eve was spent with my in-laws which was not so bad.  My mother-in-law was a bit testy and Maggie and her cousin got a bit rowdy, but other than that it was good.  However, we apparently missed quite the eventful evening at my mother's house.  It all started with the chocolate fountain that sprayed chocolate all over my parent's kitchen, a classic in my opinion.  Then onto my aunt tripping over my brother's dog and breaking the toe that she just had corrective surgery on a few months ago.  And the finale was my aunt's friend taking out my parent's brand new mail box as he raced off after the ambulence that my aunt insisted on after she broke the toe.  Beautiful stuff people.  Christmas day at my parent's was a little less uneventful thank God.  However everyone was cranky from the night before and we ended up leaving before dinner was served.  My mom was driving me crazy with the not listening to me and basically letting Maggie act like a heathen.  So we headed for home and settled on pizza rolls for our Christmas feast.  Ahhh...  Tis the Season!  Hope you all had great holidays and crap.  Merry belated Christmas!

One quick thing I keep forgetting about...

So, I have this friend from highschool who is currently on a freaking T.V. show on TBS!!  So I'm totally famous by association, right?  Anyhoo, if you're ever awake late on a Monday night you should check it out.  It's called 10 items or less.  It's on at 10pm central time, which is pretty late in my book but we've been taping it.  I realize that some of you don't have cable, but those who do and are hardcore night owls watch it!  Or if you've already been watching it let me know what you think!  I really want this to work for her because she's been busting her bum out there for at least 5 years now and it's time she got a break!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Myrtle, a cool book and the swear word.

This will likley be my only chance to really sit down and blog this week so I'm going to try to fit in three stories.  Challenging, I know.    Anyhoo, first up in Myrtle.  After I wrote about Myrtle last week, I was kind of disturbed that someone like that was out roaming the streets especially since recently in this area there have been some random attacks on women.  I worried about her.  So I started asking around to a few patients that I know are social workers or mental healthcare professionals and they all said the same thing.  Unless someone reports her or she has a family memeber that will commit her or she physically harms someone in public where she would be arrested or something, she's free to live on her own.  I thought that was pretty stupid, but whatever.  So I told the one social worker about her and where she hangs out and she said that she would look into it.  Scary stuff.  Anyway, hopefully they will find her or she will seek help.  I can't imagine if she's out there biting people she'll be free for very long.  Poor Myrtle.

I was recently giving an extremely awesome book as  Christmas gift and I would highly reccomend it.  It's called "I like you:  Hospitality under the influence"  by Amy Sedaris.  She is hysterical!  Both she and her brother are very talented writers in my book.  I've linked the Amazon page over in my books list.  Holy crap, I don't want to talk it up too much, but if you're looking for something to spend that Borders/Barnes and Noble/Amazon gift card on, I would use it on that.  Or if you're looking for a special way to treat yourself.  Or just get it from the library.  Read it.

Now for the swear word.  Mark and I try really hard to not swear around Maggie too much, but sometimes they just slip out and there is nothing you can do about it.  This usually happens when wer're driving.  So last weekend we were over at my mom's for dinner and Maggie was happily driving her little toy car all over the house.  She's going around the island in the kitchen and she can't quite make the turn.  She starts getting pissy and says "get outta my way stupid f&*%er."  I almost died.  I looked up to see if anyone else had heard it and of course my mother had to be one of these people.  But do you think she aided us in scolding Maggie and letting her know that this was a bad word?  Nope, she laughed.  Hysterically.  Until I asked her to leave the room.  Damn my mother, I just hope Maggie isn't teaching all of the other kids at daycare to say it.

So that's it for now.  Hopefully I'll at least get a chance to check in before I leave here for the weekend tomorrow.  Have a good one folks!

The fancy pants grocery store incident

Alright, I know at times I can be a tad jugdemental (more so than I care to be).  I also know that everyone is different in their own way and if everyone was "normal" and all the same the world would be a boring place.  Having said that I should also mention that I try not to make fun of or pick on people who are differnt but come ON!  This lady either saw me, recognized me from my blog and did this so I would blog about it OR she is auditioning for candid camera because I'm not ever sure that I really saw this.  Ok, so normally I don't frequent this particular grocery store because well, it's fancy pants and Mark would kill me if I did all of our shopping there.  Anyhoo, so occasionally I'll go down there to get some lunch because they have really good soups and other deli items.  So I was down there today checking out the soups and this lady walks up hair obviously ratted out about a foot, zero teeth, bright orange lipstick, bright yellow (yeah, I said yellow) eyeshadow and coke bottle glasses with lovley rose colored frames and a huge crack.  She walked up next to me, looked at my soup, proceeded to take a MOUSE out of her pocket and was going to drop it into my container!
"Here's how you get that sh!t for free honey, the poor mouse dies, but you got a free meal!"

I almost died.  I said "no thanks" and walked away.  Once she was out of ear shot, I walked up to an employee and informed them of her "scam" and the kid said

"Yeah, that's Myrtle, she does that a lot."

"Well, if you know that, why don't you stop her from coming into the store?"

    "Cause, she bites."

Fair enough.  I thought once I didn't have to ride the bus anymore I would no longer encounter these freaks, but apparently they follow me no matter where I go.  The funny thing is, before I logged on I had to tell someone, so I called my friend who also works in a deli in a near by co-op and she said that she comes into her work and does it there too!  The first time my friend caught her in the act Myrtle's response was

"Are you one of them damn crazy PETA people or somethin'?"

Oh Myrtle, you are one crazy old lady.

    Have a super weekend everyone!

    It takes a tag...

So yeah, things have been weird lately and I've found it hard to find the time to blog.  I really wish sometimes that I were a stay at home mom so maybe I could get a few things done, but I know that is the impossible dream.  Not that I couldn't do it, but that stay at home moms are just as busy as working moms.  Sheesh.  So it is by some strange chance (perhaps it's the allignment of the stars or planets or something) that I was able to check out the blog scene today and I noticed that I was tagged a few days ago.  Now I take all tagging seriously so here goes.

    Six weird things about me:

    1.  I must smell all food before it goes into my mouth.  Not to check if it's bad, although that is a small part of the reason, but because I just feel like I need to smell it.  It drives my husband crazy.

    2.  I can not pee until I have the toilet paper in hand.  Doesn't matter how bad I have to go, even if it hurts.

    3.  I can not sleep at night until the house is totally picked up.  Even if I'm dog tired or even if the only thing out of place is a piece of paper on the dining room table, it has to be done.

    4.  I can only eat ice cream with a plastic spoon.

    5.  I LOVE pickles, but I can't STAND capers.  Which is totally stupid because they are pretty much the same dang thing.

    6.  I try to save my number 2's for when I'm at work so I can get paid to take a crap.  : )

Well, I hope everyone is doing well and all. Until tomorrow!

I'm afraid this is a bit depressing...

I hadn't originally intended to blog about this, I didn't feel like it was my place.  But it has been weighing pretty heavy on my mind for the last week, so I needed to write about it.  Anyway, here goes.  About 2 months ago our daycare provider informed us that she and her husband were expecting their 3rd child.  Everyone was excited and pretty much shocked as they hadn't planned on having another.  Well, last week at her 20 week appointment the ultrasound technician was unable to detect a heartbeat.  They brought in the doctor and I guess things got pretty hectic after that.  After hours at the clinic, it was determind that the baby had passed on.  She was devestated.  We got the call later that night and were told that daycare would be closed for at least a week.  Not a problem for us as my mother-in-law doesn't work.  Anyway, they told her the next day that the head was to large to do a D&C, so she would have to deliver the baby naturally.  They gave her the option to wait it out or be induced.  She opted for induction and two days later gave birth to a baby boy.  I don't think they named him, but I'm not 100% on that one.  I feel so awful for her.  A similar thing happened to my sister-in-law when Maggie was only two weeks old.  She was at 25 weeks when she lost her daughter, it was really terrible.  Mark was able to go to the hospital and see her and the baby, but under doctors orders I was told to stay home.  I did go to the funeral though and let me tell you, that is not something I ever want to do again.  I feel like I so desperatly want to reach out to my daycare provider but I feel like it would be weird.  I shared with her the story of my sister-in-law and that seemed to make her feel a bit better, like she wasn't alone.  I told her she could call me anytime if she wanted to talk, or I could put her in touch with my sister-in-law if she wanted.  She's already told me  that the support group deal just isn't her thing and I can understand that.  But how can I urge her to get professional help without sounding like I'm out of line?  I know that she would never hurt Maggie in a million years, but when the person who takes care of your child goes through something that traumatic, you kind of want them to maybe get some help.  I know that sounds completely selfish of me, but I can't help it.  I also really care about her too, she's become sort of a friend in the last year and a half and I really want her to feel like she can come to me.  Or maybe it's none of my business and I should just let her deal with it in her own way.  I don't really know what she's going through.  I had a miscarriage last fall, but it was very early on and it was able to pass on it's own so I didn't have to go through even a fraction of what she did.  But I still want to help.  We haven't sent any flowers or anything because I felt like she was probably getting enough flowers, but do you think making a donation to an organization that helps mothers of stillborns in their name would be stepping over the line?  Ok, enough depressing stuff for now, back to the grind.

    Something fun for Friday

I am totally stealing this from the Beast Mom's blog, but I don't think she will mind.  In her latest entry she listed the beauty products that she uses everyday and then asked if her readers if they were into make-up/beauty products or not.  So I'm totally copying because I too find this interesting...
My daily beauty regimin consists of...

Aveada clove shampoo and color protect conditioner
Sauve body wash in waterlily and aloe
    Venus divine razor (thank-you venus!)
Colgate toothpast and Listerine (the original!  I am hardcore baby!)
    Adidas deoderant
Crabtree and Evelyn moisterizing body spray in Nantucket Briar
MaryKay powder, eyeshadow, mascara & blush
One of the 85 million lip balms that are currently floating around my house/car/purse/night stand.

That's it for me.  If I'm feeling really indulgent I'll even go out and buy me some Aveada foot relife.  And now that my cousin works at the salon by my house, I can afford to buy it even more often!  Hurray for family members and their discounts!  Feel free to post your answers here or on your own blog.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!  We are off to the cabin to freeze our butts off, but it should be fun anyway.  Later!

    Here's somethin' for ya

Ok, I wasn't going to blog today because I have a billion other things to do on my lunch, but this was just too good to pass up.  If any of you that read my blog had any doubts about just how hated my manager was, here's something to prove just how disliked she really is.  Friday was supposed to be her last day here and at the end of the day the doctor was supposed to let her go.  Well, of course she has come up with some excuse that she can't be here at work for the rest of the week that is totally lame and unbelievable.  So the male doctor's wife who does some bookkeeping and other stuff like that and has taken over the "manager" role let her know that after today she doesn't need to come back.  And then they ordered pizza for lunch to "celebrate".  Hee hee hee.  Don't get me wrong, I try really hard to like everyone and I always give people a chance, but this women just does not even deserve an ounce of my respect.  She deserves exactly what she got.  Later people!

    Happy Halloween!

I wanted to type in orange for Halloween and this was the only way it would show up!  Sheesh.  Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Halloween!  We are taking Miss Maggie out for her first trick-or-treating experience tonight!  I am so excited.  She will be dressing up as her hero of the moment, Dora.  Now if only I could get her to wear the darn wig...  No matter, she sitll looks freakin' cute.  Other than that not much else is going on.  Just three more days of our "manager" and she'll be gone!  I think the most frustrating thing about her is that I usually can get along with a wide variety of people, especially people I work with.  I figure you gotta make it work right?  You see these people more than anyone so you'd better be able to get along with them.  But she makes it really difficult to like her and the fact that I actually feel that way about someone pisses me off.  I was the only one who stuck up for her in the begining when things started getting bad and now she's just gone and proved me wrong.  Ugh.  Oh well, what can you do?  Two of my friends have some pretty cool stuff going on right now.  First off, my friend Karen is being featured on the the Utne reader's website for her super awesome zine!  If you don't know what a zine is, basically it's a self published magazine about pretty much anything you could think of.  Most people out there use them as a way to get their writing out into the public but I've seen some that are just collections of photos, some are more like comic books, you get the idea.  Anyway, her's is called the pine box and it is awesome!  If you go to http://www.utne.com/web_special/web_specials_2006-10/articles/12305-1.html you'll find the article on her stuff, just scroll down a bit.  The also featured another one called a tenderness so painful i thought my heart would burst, equally awesome.  My other awesome friend is going to be on a freakin' TV show at the end of this month!  It's on TBS and I'm unsure of the rest of the details, but when I find them out I will post them.  I know some famous people folks!  Happy Halloween everyone!

    Yes, I am alive!

Helloooooo everyone!  I hope you all are doing well!  We have officially been in our new home for one week!  Yippy!  Things are finally starting to settle down and we are getting our house put together.  I can't even begin to describe the craziness that has taken place over the last month but I will try.  First off work...  They are FINALLY getting rid of the "manager" beeoch and I couldn't be happier.  I may just stay here after all!  She really pissed 'em off a couple of weeks ago when I was really sick and couldn't come to work.  I aparently had a sinus infection on top of strep throat on top of bronchitis.  So that was fun.  Anyway, she has been having some health issues ever since she started and ended up having to have surgery at the end of September.  A surgery we later found out wasn't actually that bad and wasn't even really surgery!  They never even cut her open!  Although her excuse for not coming to work when I was sick and she was supposed to be covering for me was that her inscision was infected.  Yeah right.  So finally after months and months and months of putting up with her excuses the docs had had it.  Her not being here to cover for me really ticked them off and they decided to fire her.  However, she somehow got her doctor to put her disability so they had to delay it until she was off.  That's how they found out that she never actually had an inscision, her doctors note said nothing about it and when one of the doctors here at work called to find out her doctor said "she doesn't have and inscision, she's just fatigued from the drugs".  Whatever.  But now all is well and they are finally able to let her go.  So over the last couple of weeks the docs have been talking to all of us and gathering up all the info they need when they actually sit down to talk to her.  Should be pretty interesting...
As for our new place, it is AWESOME!  Our car is so happy to be in a garage, I can't even begin to tell you.  Maggie is loving her new room and Ms. Lucy is happy to finally have some windows that actually look out into nature.  The only casualty from the move was our bed which couldn't have happened at a better time.  My mom was there when it happened and she told us that she and my stepdad where planning on getting us a new one for Christmas anyway, so she took us to Slumberland the next day and now we will have our new bed tomorrow!  Yippy!  She also said she couldn't stand the thought of the two of us sleeping in our little full bed anymore (Mark is 6'4'' and I'm 5'9''- you do the math).  So that's it for now, sometime after the holidays are over we are going to look into getting the internet hooked up in our house.  By then Mark's next raise will be in effect and we'll actually be able to afford it!  Have a great weekend everyone!
    Peace and Love,

    September 26

    What's up everyone!

More or less just checking in here.  Not too much has been happening in the last week or so, just the usual busy stuff.  We officially move on the 21st of October, and boy is tha coming up fast!  I almost can't believe that September is almost over.  I've been super cranky and not much in the mood for posting or ANYTHING really because our apartment is currently in shambles and I am a neat freak through and through.  I might have to go postal or something.  I also haven't heard back yet from the place where I applied last Wednesday and that is making me cranky too!  Grrr...  But this weekend should be pretty fun.  A nice break from the rat race.  Thursday is our 4th wedding anniversary so on Friday we're going to go on an actual date!  Hurrah!  Thank you very much next-door neighbors.  On Saturday there is this big crazy festival type thing in honor of Summit Brewery.  Summit is a local brewery that makes some very tasty beers!  Anywho, it's their twentieth or twenty-fifth anniversary so they're sponsoring a big party out on the river.  The Mississippi that is.  Should be a good time.  Some of the bands that will be there are Cake, Tapes and Tapes, Soul Assylum, The Suburbs and a bunch of others I can't remember right now.  Should be a good time.  That evening Ms. Maggie will be sleeping over at grandma and grandpa's house so that will be good for mom and dad!  He he he.  Things at work are OK right now.  Our "manager" is currently out for the week due to some surgery or something.  Blah, I've had about all of her that I can handle.  I don't think she's going to end up working out in the end, but the real question is will she ever leave?  Or will they have the balls to fire her?  Doubtful.  Anyway, have a good one all.
    peace and love,
